The 10 most beautiful beaches in Cairns

During my time with my family in Cairns, I had the opportunity to lay on numerous beaches, more beautiful one than another. Below, I present you, according to me, the 10 most beautiful beaches in Cairns and its region.

10. Buchan Point

Buchan Point is the first beach situated after Palm Cove when you take on Captain Cook Highway in the direction to Port Douglas. The 1.2 kilometer long beach, offers a very beautiful view on the north coast of Cairns.

Machans Beach is the first beach which you will meet when you leave Cairns in the direction of the North. It is located at the mouth of Barron River. Its 2.5 kilometers of sand offers a fantastic view on Trinity Forest Reserve (the mountains you see in the background of the photo above).

8. Holloways Beach

Holloways Beach is the beach you will find directly after Machans Beach when you continue northward. The beach, as long as the previous one, is surrounded by creeks and mangrove swamps easily accessible on foot. Furthermore, it also offers one very beautiful view on the Trinity Forest Reserve.

7. Palm Cove

Palm Cove is one of the key beaches of Cairns and its region. It is situated 27 kilometers to the North of the city. It thus offers a panorama which extends from the Trinity Forest Reserve to Double Island, which is situated 1 kilometer of the coast. The beach is one of the main sea resorts of Cairns and its region. The locality presents numerous restaurants and hotels, as well as a pier on which it is possible to go fishing.

6. Trinity Beach

Trinity Beach is situated between Holloways Beach and Palm Cove. The 1.5 kilometer long beach is surrounded by Earl Hill in the South and by the Taylor Point in the North.

5. Cape Tribulation

In the same way as Palm Cove, Caps Tribulation Beach is one of the main attractions of Cairns and its region. The beach is situated between two world heritages: Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

4. Four Mile Beach

Four Mile Beach is situated in Port Douglas. The beach is located 5 minutes from the city center. It extends as her name indicates on 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) and offers a magnificent view on all the coast until Palm Cove when the horizon is cleared.

3. Mission Beach

Mission Beach is the most southerly beach of this ranking because it is 139 kilometers South of Cairns. Nevertheless, the route is worth it. The wide beach proposes an idyllic frame. The water, much clearer than in the North, is infested neither by crocodiles nor by jellyfishes. Furthermore, the horizon gives way to Dunk Island from which you can also go to visit the Great Barrier Reef.

2. Cow Bay

Cow Bay is situated in a few kilometers in the South of Cape Tribulation. The beach is situated in a bay surrounded by Daintree Forest, which offers a contrast of magnificent colors. Besides offering a paradisiac frame, you can make rather cool photos thanks to a rope hung on one of the coconut palms and with which you can swing.

1. Oak Beach

Oak Beach is the beach I preferred among all those visited. The main reason: it is not as touristic as the others. The accesses are very limited and private. This almost desert beach offers of more a breathtaking view on the turquoise blue horizon and the Daintree Forest.

Small reminder, it is possible to meet crocodiles and mortal jellyfishes on all these beaches, with the exception of Mission Beach. Thus, pay attention when you will venture there 🙂
